The "Circle of Time" sculpture in the Entrance Piazza was commissioned by the Hong Kong Jockey Club. Installed in 1991, this has become an iconic symbol of HKUST. This centerpiece is inspired by the sundial, which uses sunlight to measure time. Made of steel, it stands on a podium within a flowing water pool, symbolizing the passage of time, and features a carved mural of 39 ancient Chinese achievements in science and technology.
