Prof. Nancy IP, President of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), is currently attending the 56th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, one of the world’s most influential gatherings of global leaders. Her presence highlights the University’s contribution in shaping international dialogue on higher education, innovation, and frontier science. This year’s meeting, themed “A Spirit of Dialogue,” welcomes nearly 65 heads of state and 850 top CEOs. As the only university president from Hong Kong participating in the Global University Leaders Forum (GULF), a major component of the Davos 2026, President Ip engaged in the roundtable discussion “Leadership in Transition: Universities and the World Ahead.” She emphasized universities’ vital role as public-good institutions that build trust, nurture diverse student communities, and drive impactful partnerships across government, industry, and civil society. President Ip also took part in several important exchanges, sharing her unique insights on health innovation as an economic growth strategy and the future of research.
