Oscar Tao (2021 BBA Global Business) embodies a dynamic fusion of creativity and innovation, thriving as a singer-songwriter, classical pianist, TV host, actor, and entrepreneur. His HKUST journey, marked by mentorship, global study tours, and collaborative case competitions, ignited a multifaceted path that defies traditional career boundaries. Inspired by HKUST's entrepreneurial culture, Oscar co-founded two AI-driven dental startups: DBT Technology Limited and Lulusmiles Medical Technology Limited. Embracing a fluid balance between different identities, Oscar advises younger alumni: "Listen to opinions, but verify with your values and facts. Try, test, iterate—that's how you find your voice and fit."

Did you know what the One-World-Fountain symbolizes? The fountain outside LG7 canteen represents a harmony of nature with man, and a synergy of technology and worldwide communication. It is composed of five stones each from a different continent. The stone Asia is in the center, communicating with other continents through the ever-flowing water. The water-light-stone-space sculpture was created by Prof. Hans Muhr, an Austrian sculptor famous for his design of water fountains and sculptures found in major cities around the world. The One World-Fountain at HKUST is his first symbolic water sculpture in Asia. This project was initiated and supported by the late Dr. Helmut Sohmen, whose contributions we deeply honor and remember.

Championing the motto “one dragon, one heart”, the Alumni Dragon Boat Club marks its 25th anniversary under the leadership of founding member and president Lell Luk (2002 BSc Biology). Over the years, relentless collective effort has secured competition honors while forging unbreakable bonds and memorable moments. Fueled by passion despite full-time jobs, members train rigorously in fitness and technique, welcoming newcomers to build core strength, endurance, and camaraderie.
