Happy 2025! As we embark on this new year, let’s take a moment to celebrate our remarkable successes featured in the “HKUST 2024 Highlights” video. 2024 has been exceptional. We achieved major breakthroughs and accomplishments such as our national research involvement in the Chang’E 8 Lunar Exploration Mission and deep-sea expeditions. We secured record-high funding and grants at both local and national levels. The University also spearheaded two new InnoHK R&D centers to advance research in artificial intelligence and space robotics. Through our concerted efforts, we attained several remarkable “firsts.” Notably, HKUST proudly ranked 19th worldwide and 1st in Hong Kong in the Times Higher Education’s (THE) Impact Rankings 2024. Our graduates continued to excel, claiming the top spot in Hong Kong and within the top 30 worldwide for 12 consecutive years in the THE Global University Employability Ranking. 2024 also marked two noteworthy milestones: the inaugural graduation ceremony of HKUST(Guangzhou), and the surpassing of 100,000 members in our thriving alumni community, a network that now spans the globe. HKUST remains committed to knowledge transfer and entrepreneurship, having nurtured more than 1,800 active startups and 10 unicorns over the years. During our annual Unicorn Day, over 100 innovators showcased their cutting-edge projects to business leaders, government officials, and potential investors. In partnership with corporate entities, we established the Redbird Innovation Fund, backed by HK$2 billion in venture investment, to support the scaling of HKUST-grown deep tech companies. Last but not least, we were honored to confer Honorary Doctorates upon four distinguished and world-renowned leaders: the head of a tech giant, a Nobel laureate, a Fields medalist, and an award-winning actor, for their impactful contributions to society. Thank you for being a part of our journey in 2024. May 2025 bring you prosperity and bliss! With warmest regards, |
